
When it comes to reaching your audience on social media, the growing sentiment is that ‘if it doesn’t move, then your audience isn’t going to see it’, just ask any media guru, Facebook maximalist… you name it.
But how do you get your customers to become engaged and loyal when every man and his dog video are competing for your audience’s screen time? Well, here are three of our hot tips for 2019.
Hot tip #1: Adopt an unorthodox approach
It’s a classic case of striving not to be better, but to be different. We saw a glimpse of this with Wrigley’s gum, which transformed the classic talent show formula into an interactive pre-roll ad.
Hot tip #2: Be agile and adapt
This year we’ll see Facebook pushing their Facebook Watch platform and Instagram their IGTV vertical video application. Both present brands with the opportunity to do something fresh in a new environment in a different format and of course there will be others.
Hot tip #3: Get personal
New research conducted by Wave.video found that in 2018, 67% of the most successful video ads showed people, whereas 21% used animation and a mere 13% animals. So although animation has its place so too does more traditional people-based advertising.
In summary, to cut through the media-noise of ‘TVC cut –downs’ or ‘digital-for-digital-sake’ videos, it will probably take some fresh ideas if you are to entertain, engage and persuade the people you are producing your ‘digital content’ for.
