Mammal created Parallel Parks to bring national parks to anyone who might not be able to get to those parks in person.
Parallel Parks sources virtual reality (VR) footage of parks, and delivers it via a VR headset to anyone – especially those with restricted movements and people with disability – who wants to experience it.

Helen from National Parks & Wildlife Service NSW tries out the experience.
The concept grew from early discussions with client New Horizons around improving parks’ accessibility, to become a lateral, technology-led solution.
Numerous organisations and agencies – across technology, disability services, video production, public relations, event management, political representation, funding bodies and more – have collaborated to develop a prototype app for the Google Daydream VR platform, which was launched in Martin Place on Friday 15 September.

The Parallel Parks launch event, held in Sydney’s Martin Place.
The event also served as a launch for the next phase of the project: a crowd-funding campaign (via new not-for-profit funding platform, Enablr) to raise money to both create more content and deliver it to more people.

Accessible tourism researcher, Professor Simon Darcy (@simon_darcy), shares his Parallel Parks experience.
Over 18 months in the making so far, New Horizons’ Parallel Parks now aims to enhance the wellbeing of people with disability, becoming a useful, integral and fully-functional part of their lives.
New Horizons customer Cath Smith features in the Parallel Parks promotional video.
